The Lanka Premier League is Sri Lanka's premier T20 cricket tournament. Founded in 2020 by Sri Lanka Cricket and run in partnership with sports media company IPG Group, the LPL brings together four franchise teams over a month of high-intensity cricket each Sri Lankan winter.
Each season unfolds across host stadiums in Colombo, Kandy, and Hambantota. The format follows the established T20 league playbook: a round-robin league stage, followed by playoffs (Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2) leading to the Final.
The LPL has been the proving ground for Sri Lanka's next generation of international cricketers and has hosted overseas stars from across the world's T20 circuit. Past champions include the Jaffna Stallions / Kings franchise - the league's most decorated club to date - and B-Love Kandy.
LPL 2026 - the seventh edition - runs from 8 July to 8 August 2026, featuring Colombo Kaps, Dambulla Sixers, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy Royals.
